October statistics reveal strong passenger & cargo growth at MEM

Memphis International Airport’s passenger and cargo traffic showed significant year-to-year growth in October 2017. A total of 197,093 passengers boarded planes at MEM in October 2017 compared to 184,437 in October 2016. The addition of nearly 13,000 passengers represents a 6.8% year-to-year increase. Origin and destination (O&D)  traffic at MEM is running more than 10% higher compared to 2009, when MEM still operated as a hub.

The amount of cargo handled increased by 4.9% in October 2017 vs. October 2016. A total of 824,486 pounds of cargo were handled at MEM last month compared to 785,405 pounds in October 2016. MEM is the 2nd busiest cargo airport in the world and the busiest in North America.
