MEMPHIS, Tenn. (September 17, 2019) – Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) and its partners will host an Edge4Vets career development workshop for local veterans on Tuesday, October 1. The workshop will take place from 10 am until 3:30 pm at the Hilton Memphis at 939 Ridge Lake Boulevard in Memphis.
MSCAA’s Edge4vets partnership includes the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), University Aviation Association and the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Edge4Vets works in collaboration with Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA), which represents major commercial airports in the US and Canada, to accelerate veterans into airport workforces. The Edge4Vets program combines workshop training with online instruction to teach veterans how to translate their military strengths, including values and skills, into tools for the airport and business workforces, then connects them with program partner jobs.
Representatives from airport, local government and local business employers will be in attendance to discuss career opportunities with veteran attendees.
Founded in 2011, Edge4Vets is a program created by the Human Resiliency Institute at Fordham University in New York.

“Edge4Vets gives veterans what business leaders say they need most: that’s training to translate their military skills into tools for civilian success,” said Tom Murphy, Director of the Director Human Resiliency Institute at Fordham University. “Then we connect them to human resources reps in our employer network who can offer them jobs that lead to careers.”
