MEMPHIS, TENN. (March 17, 2016) – Air Cargo World recently recognized Memphis International Airport (MEM) with its Air Cargo Excellence Award as the top cargo airport in North America in the 1,000,000 or more tonnes category.
The awards are based on the Air Cargo Excellence Survey, which was established in 2005 by Air Cargo World. Awards are presented annually to the airlines and airports achieving the highest scores in the survey based on several performance factors.
Airports are rated by freight forwarders, cargo agents, and third-party logistics providers on:
• Performance: Quality of customer service; handling of exceptions
• Value: Competitiveness of rates and charges; customs clearance efficiency
• Facilities: Airside capacity; apron capacity and aircraft parking; warehousing; operational restrictions; ground connectivity
In addition to highlighting winners, the survey data indicates airline or airport performance against an industry average.
“We are honored to be recognized as industry leaders by our aviation peers and colleagues,” said Scott Brockman, President and CEO of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority. “Cargo has a huge impact on both the local and worldwide economy, and we will continue to strive to facilitate its growth at MEM.”
“The Air Cargo Excellence Awards celebrate the best in the air cargo industry,” said JJ Hornblass, publisher, Air Cargo World. “We extend a sincere congratulations to all the winners.”
