Southwest moving ticketing operations to B Terminal
Tuesday, May 10, 2016
Southwest Airlines is relocating its ticket desk at Memphis International Airport (MEM) from the A Terminal to the B Terminal on the evening of May 11, with the first full day of ticking operations to begin May 12. The nighttime move means that flight operations will not be impacted.
The move will give Southwest passengers faster access to the larger Security Checkpoint in the B Terminal – which includes TSA PreCheck services – and better positions the airline’s operations once the airport’s planned Concourse Modernization is complete. Southwest jets will continue to use the A Concourse, and bags will continue to arrive in the A Terminal Baggage Claim area. The exit lane from A Concourse into the A Terminal and down to A Baggage will remain open, so arriving Southwest passengers will still be able to reach their checked bags as quickly as they always have.
Concurrent with Southwest’s move, TSA will permanently close its security checkpoint in the A Terminal. TSA staff from that checkpoint will join staff in the B and C Terminal checkpoints, helping to increase service levels and efficiency for passengers. Moving walkways are in place in the A-B Connector to help expedite the walk from the B checkpoint to the A Concourse.
