MEMPHIS, TN – The Memphis City Council has approved the appointment of Michael Keeney to the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) Board of Commissioners. Keeney, who was nominated by Shelby County Mayor Mark H. Luttrell Jr., replaces the board position vacated by Jack Sammons, who accepted the position of Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Memphis in May.

Keeney will complete Sammons’ term, which will expire on December 31, 2016.

Keeney is the managing shareholder at the Memphis office of Lewis Thomason Law Firm. He has practiced law since 1993. Keeney is a 1992 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville, TN, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Lambuth College in Jackson, TN, in 1988.

An active community volunteer, Keeney currently serves on the board of directors for Orgill, Inc. and is a member of the Chairman’s Circle for the Greater Memphis Chamber. He also serves on the board of directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Memphis and is president of the University Neighborhood Development Corporation.

“Michael will bring unique skills to the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority. His experience as a business and community leader will make him a great addition to the airport authority board and its mission to make Memphis one of best airports in the country,” said Mayor Luttrell.

Pace Cooper, Chairman of the MSCAA Board, said, “We are so fortunate to have yet another community and business standout added to the Airport Authority board. I look forward to Michael’s contributions and input as we shape a new future for MEM.”
