The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) is saddened to receive news of the passing of James McGehee. McGehee served as chairman of the MSCAA Board of Commissioners from 1981-1996.
An integral part of the Memphis community, he was also a former chairman of the Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce and former president of the Memphis Rotary Club. In addition, McGehee served on the board of directors for Pinnacle Airlines.
A certified mortgage banker, McGehee was a former president of both the Memphis Bankers Association and the Tennessee Mortgage Bankers Association. He was a former recipient of the Tennessee Mortgage Banker of the Year Award.
In 2005, the Memphis City Council renamed the drive leading to the airport “Jim McGehee Parkway.”
