MEMPHIS, Tenn. (October 24, 2025) – The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) will host its 2025 Triennial Full-Scale Emergency Exercise at Memphis International Airport (MEM) on Monday, October 27, 2025.
This year’s exercise brings together hundreds of participants, including emergency responders, volunteers, mutual aid partners and aviation stakeholders.
Mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Triennial is a practical exercise and safety training that takes place every three years at commercial service airports around the United States. The exercise simulates a large-scale aircraft incident, testing the planning, operational readiness, speed and effectiveness of emergency personnel across multiple agencies in real-time. Travelers and the surrounding community may see emergency lights, sirens, and increased activity in and around the airport during the drill.
“The safety of our travelers, employees, airline partners and community is our top priority, and exercises like the Triennial Emergency Exercise is intended to bolster the airport’s commitment to safety and continuous improvement,” said Terry Blue, President and CEO of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority.
The exercise will begin at 9:00 am and will not affect the normal operations of the airport facility or any regularly scheduled flight activity.
