MEMPHIS, Tenn. (December 10, 2015) – The Memphis City Council has confirmed the reappointment of Jack Sammons to the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA). Sammons was nominated by City of Memphis Mayor A C Wharton, Jr.
Sammons previously served on the MSCAA board from 2010 until May 2015, when he stepped down in order to accept the position of Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Memphis. He served as the chairman of the board from January 2013 until his departure in May.
Sammons will begin his new seven-year term on January 1, 2016. He will fill the vacancy created by the expiring term of Commissioner J.W. Gibson, which ends December 31, 2015.
“Jack Sammons is an integral part of the community and a huge advocate for the Memphis International Airport,” said Pace Cooper, Chairman of the MSCAA Board of Commissioners. “We are excited to once again have his leadership and enthusiasm for the relentless pursuit of frequent and affordable air service. At the same time, I want to thank J.W. Gibson for his service on the board, as he has been an instrumental part of an exciting period of growth for MEM.”
