Memphis International Airport receives $5 million for infrastructure needs

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (March 22, 2024) – Memphis International Airport (MEM) has received $5 million in federal funding toward the design and construction of a Snow Removal Equipment (SRE) Facility. This funding was included in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024 signed into law on March 9, 2024.

The facility will provide protection of MEM’s SRE from year-round weather conditions, including Ultraviolet (UV) exposure, to maintain to its maximum useful life for future winter weather events. This community project funding will keep runways clear during winter conditions so airline carriers can safely operate at MEM.

“This integral investment will help MEM continue to serve as a cornerstone of our region’s economic prosperity and connectivity during extreme weather events,” said Terry Blue, President and CEO. “We greatly appreciate Congressman David Kustoff and Congressman Steve Cohen for their steadfast support and advocacy to ensure accessible, safe, and reliable air transportation operations.”
