Airport Receives $117,247 TVA Incentive for Major Energy-Efficient Lighting Upgrades

Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) has been awarded a $117,247.63 energy efficiency incentive through the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) EnergyRight® for Business & Industry Program, in partnership with Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW). The funding recognizes a large-scale LED lighting upgrade that is delivering substantial energy savings and long-term operational benefits across Frederick W. Smith International Airport (MEM).

MEM expects approximately 45,000 people to pass through checkpoint for Labor Day Weekend travel period

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) expects an estimated 45,000 people to pass through the checkpoint at Frederick W. Smith International Airport (MEM) during the 2026 Labor Day Weekend travel period, which will take place between September 3 – 8. The peak day is projected to be Friday, September 4, with more than 9,400 people passing through the checkpoint.

B Tunnel Reopened

Airport Reopens Pedestrian B Tunnel

Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) today announced the official reopening of its Pedestrian B Tunnel at Frederick W. Smith International Airport (MEM), successfully completing a critical phase of the airport’s ongoing Terminal Modernization and Seismic Program (TMSP). Starting Wednesday, September 2, travelers can once again use the tunnel for direct access.
