The Memphis International Airport Set to Host Its Inaugural Runway 5K
Memphis International Airport (MEM) is excited to host its inaugural MEM Runway 5K on September 20.
Participants will have a chance to run on one of MEM’s runways and get a close-up view of aircraft landing and taking off. The uniqueness of this event allows runners to experience the airport grounds, and rare views of an airport that served nearly 5 million passengers in 2024 and ranks among one of the busiest cargo airports in world.
You must register as a runner to participate. Children 14 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult. Early registration is encouraged!
All attendees (3 and older) of the event, including those who do not plan to run or walk the 5K course, are required to register for the event. The last day to register for this event is September 15. Race participants will receive a T-shirt and a special finisher medal.
Children 2 and under can enter without registration if accompanied by a registered guest.
Special early bird pricing until July 4th!
Proceeds from the race will support the Memphis International Airport Community Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, who focuses on civic engagement, education, sustainability efforts, health, and community-supporting initiatives.
We are delighted to provide this exciting and unique opportunity to run or walk on a course that is typically reserved for aircraft only,” said Terry Blue, president and CEO of the Memphis Shelby County Airport Authority. “This event is not only about celebrating aviation and fitness but also about supporting a great cause in a fun, engaging way.”
