Airport Authority begins planned leadership transition

As part of a carefully planned process, Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) has announced that Terry Blue has transitioned into the role of President. Blue was selected to replace the retiring Scott Brockman as President and CEO by the MSCAA Board of Commissioners at their monthly meeting in April. Blue, who previously served as Executive Vice President of Operations and Chief Operating Officer, joined MSCAA in 2015 and has more than 25 years of aviation experience.

The Thanksgiving holiday travel period is traditionally one of the busiest of the year for airports across the nation. As a result, travelers should prepare for heavier passenger traffic during this year’s Thanksgiving travel period, which will fall between November 17-27.

MSCAA announces parking rate changes

The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority Board of Commissioners recently approved a resolution to increase parking rates at Memphis International Airport (MEM). The additional revenue generated from these increases will be used to fund numerous critical improvements to MEM’s parking system.

The increases will be implemented in the economy garage and surface overflow lots, with daily rates for both moving to $9 per day effective November 1, 2023. The rates for the short-term and long-term lots will remain unchanged.

MEM shares Fall Break travel tips

Fall Break continues the trend of heavy passenger traffic at MEM. More than 50,000 people are expected to pass through the TSA checkpoint during the peak Fall Break travel period, which will take place October 5-9. MEM continues to strongly recommend that passengers arrive at the airport a minimum of two hours before their scheduled departure time.

MEM shares travel tips for Labor Day Weekend

Nearly 47,000 people are expected to pass through the TSA checkpoint at Memphis International Airport (MEM) during the Labor Day travel period, which will take place between August 31 and September 5. The peak day is expected to be Friday, when approximately 10,000 people are projected to pass through the checkpoint.

Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) has selected Marshall Stevens as its new Vice President of Operations. Stevens will succeed Terry Blue, who will assume the role of MSCAA’s President and CEO on January 1, 2024, following the retirement of current President and CEO Scott Brockman.
