MEM on the Move: Interim Commercial Drive work underway

Work on the interim commercial drive is underway on the lower outer drive. The project is expected to be completed in April 2025. To accommodate the construction, coach buses have been moved from the upper/outer drive to the upper/inner drive. Shuttle buses and limos have been relocated from the lower/outer drive to the lower/middle drive.

MEM on the Move: New LED lighting is a bright upgrade in 3-story garage

MEM’s 3-story garage got a significant lighting upgrade in February. The old high pressure sodium lighting was replaced with more energy efficient LED technology. Memphis International Airport (MEM) experienced a milestone year in 2024, highlighted by a record number of 4.9 million origin and destination (O&D) passengers traveling through the airport. These numbers reflected an increase of nearly 81,000 passengers compared to 2023.

TMSP Update: Outer Commercial Lane on Baggage Level to Close December 9

Work continues on our initial phase of the impending Terminal Modernization and Seismic Program (TMSP), specifically the creation of a new commercial ground transportation lane along the south end of the short-term garage outside baggage claim. Starting Monday, December 9, the lower outer commercial drive on the baggage level will be closed, and all traffic will be directed to the inner and middle lanes. The primary impact of this closure will be for coach buses and MATA operations.

Construction has begun on the creation of the new commercial ground transportation lane outside baggage claim. Due to the active construction and barriers that are in place, passengers should only utilize crosswalks when walking to and from the terminal. This phase is expected to be completed in mid-December.
