MEMPHIS, TENN. (January 22, 2026) – Memphis International Airport (MEM) served 4.8 million passengers and handled 6.5 billion tons of cargo in 2025. Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) presented an overview of 2025 highlights at its Board of Commissioners meeting on January 22. MEM by the numbers in 2025
- Total passengers: 4,751,026
- Total aircraft operations: 180,062
- Total cargo handled: 6.54 billion pounds
- 661,706 cars parked at MEM
- 874 planes deiced at MEM’s Centralized Deicing Facility
2025 MEM highlights:
- MSCAA Board of Commissioners voted to rename MEM after FedEx founder Frederick W. Smith.
- MEM on the Move: new commercial lane opened and ride share operations relocated. In addition work began on the Concourse A demolition, outer drive replacement project, and parking guidance system installation.
- 11 new flights launched at MEM, including a new airline, Breeze Airways
- MEM ranked as the top “family friendly airport” by iCandy.
- Inaugural Runway 5K hosted 860 participants and raised more than $65,000 for the MEM’s Community Foundation.
- Inaugural “Flying Together” event with Autism Resources of the Mid South, return of the “Fantasy Flight” for St. Jude families.
- “Now @ MEM” marketing campaign launched, highlighting service, culture, food, art and soul.
