Memphis, TN (August 19, 2026) — The future home of Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) administrative offices and Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS) reached a major milestone on Wednesday, August 19, with the installation of the final steel high beam. The Airport Authority marked the occasion with a topping off ceremony immediately following the August MSCAA Board Meeting.
MSCAA Board Commissioners, executive leadership, and project partners TSA, UrbanARCH Associates, TAC Team (Turner, Ardmore-Roderick, and Chris Woods Construction), and MFA Program Management gathered to sign the final high beam before it was hoisted into place. Earlier in the week, Airport Authority employees were invited to sign the beam as well to be a part of the building’s history.
Completing the highest point of the structural steel frame brings MSCAA one step closer to opening the building that will provide critical infrastructure to enhance airport security and operations, streamline baggage flow, and unify central management.
Airport Authority staff currently working out of the terminal mezzanine offices are expected to relocate to the upper floors of the building in the summer of 2027 while the CBIS build is finished out on the lower levels.
The CBIS/Admin building is located in the former A Concourse area to the west of the terminal. The ground level of the CBIS will be approximately 33,800 sq ft and handle security processing of checked baggage for all airlines.
The finished administrative area of the building will include offices and meeting spaces across the second and third levels, each measuring approximately 30,100 sq ft. The top level rooftop deck space will measure approximately 14,500 sq ft. The CBIS/Admin building will be connected to the terminal via a skybridge connector.
