MEMPHIS, Tenn. (June 27, 2019) – Memphis International Airport (MEM) will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 am this morning to celebrate the opening of its new Consolidated Rental Car (CONRAC) maintenance facility. The CONRAC facility, located on Airways Boulevard between Winchester Road and Victoria Road, provides for fleet maintenance and storage of vehicles used at the rental car center. Rental car companies utilize the facility to perform tasks such as warranty repairs and minor maintenance such as tire rotations and oil changes. They also prep new vehicles when the fleet changes out every six months. 

The new CONRAC provides nearly one million square feet of space to the rental car companies for their maintenance and fleet storage operations. The new facilities also include all-weather car washes, dedicated fueling areas, and large maintenance bays. The actual location of car rental services for passengers at MEM has not changed. Rental car companies occupy the first two floors of MEM’s economy parking garage. While the CONRAC facility is not open to the public, passengers will benefit from more efficient rental car operations.

Previously, rental companies operated off airport property or in facilities on Rental Road. The new CONRAC brings these services closer to MEM and allows the rental car companies to quickly “turn” vehicles that require any routine or scheduled maintenance. It also allows the companies to quickly provide vehicles to the Rental Car Center when needed.
