MEM on the Move: Upper inner departures drive and crosswalks reopened

B walkway open

MEM on the MoveConstruction for Memphis International Airport’s Terminal Modernization and Seismic Program (TMSP) project affecting the upper inner departures lane has been completed and the B crosswalk was reopened on Friday, June 20.

Work recently completed on the upper inner drive included the construction of speed tables to assist in regulating the flow of traffic on the departures level of the terminal.

The TMSP project is part of an extensive multi-year project that will invest more than $700 million in facility improvements for MEM passengers. It is the largest capital project in MEM’s history. Project funding will include general airport revenue bonds, state and federal grants, passenger facility charges (PFCs) and other Authority capital funds. No city or county tax dollars will be used to fund the project.

Early phases of the project include the addition of a commercial lane on the baggage level and the replacement of the outer drive on the ticketing/departures level. These early phases will pave the way for the modernization of the ticketing and baggage areas.
